It’s a bittersweet moment- I have decided to leave Dim Mak and start a new job this week at Red Light Management! For the past few weeks I have been mulling over the best way to phrase this post. The more I think about it though; it goes to show as a testament as to how much Dim Mak has meant to me the past two and a half years.

I showed up to Dim Mak as an intern in my final semester at Ithaca College back in 2013. A few months later when I graduated is when I got my actual video job, plus adding all the streaming services for Dim Mak under my belt. Building the Dim Mak Spotify to be one of the biggest dance labels on the service is a mark I’ve left that I am so proud of. In retrospect, I didn’t know a whole lot about video production, branding, design - real job skills. Talk about a trial by fire. I like to think that I am a hard worker, but there’s no better way to learn the ropes than by being thrown headfirst into a project. I am always so thankful that I have more or less got to where I am just by having to design stuff week in week out.

The idiom “it takes a village to raise a child” I feel is appropriate to thank all the creative and dedicated people I have been privileged to work with at Dim Mak. Bryan, Alex, Pheobe, Jaime, Lee, Lorne, Mario, Andy, Cecilia, John, the Nicoles, fucking TIM (duh), all the various interns, Will, Taylor, Arta, Aldo, my loser roommate Jenks, boss man Steve- I am definitely forgetting people- but know that you mean a lot to me too. I never would have been able to realize my potential if it wasn’t for the inspiring people that I have been blessed to work with. Not to mention all the Dim Mak artists and their managers that I am happy to call friends- it’s quite a long list. :-)

Speaking of which- thanks to Moe Shalizi for believing in me and wanting me to join the team at Red Light. My new role at Red Light is going to have me overseeing the creative for the Red Light Electronic Division’s artists, part me designing stuff and part getting my eye on their visual branding in general. I can’t wait to be crafting content for some of my favorite musicians from over the years, coming from all different backgrounds in electronic music. Plus getting to work with my artist friends on Red Light all year on their different projects? Sign me up.

This being said- I guess this is the best time to plug reaching out to me if you are a designer of some sort, right? Let’s work together! Drop me a line to my email chriscubbycramer@gmail.com ;-)

Okay that’s enough of me being all mushy. If there’s anything you take away from this post, just know that you’re never too good to learn from your friends. If you work your ass off and put your heart in everything you do, people will believe in you- just believe in them too. :-) 2016 is the year!
